Does a little hobby tips website really need a legal page?
Well, I'm not really sure, so I'll also include some of my philosophy on building
unmanned aircraft and other models.
I'm a big supporter of following the manufacturer's
construction manual and building the model following their directions.
I think it's safe to say that they have built a lot more of a particular
model than we have. Take your time and use the proper tools and materials.
Most of the construction tips that you will find here are
just further explanations (hopefully helpful) of options or modifications
referred to by the manufacturers (less the fine details). Others will
basically be "non-factory" like general enhancements (usually just continuations of steps provided) and
the rest will be completely custom.
Only advanced modelers should ever try to deviate from the
manufacturer's directions. After all, if a modification does not
enhance the plane, or causes some problem down the line, it was hardly worth
the extra effort. Or worse, it may make the plane unsafe. The
builder must accept the responsibility of making the change.
Sometimes you can do it a better way, but other times, it's
done their way for a reason. Yet other times, it would just be
to complex (especially to explain) or even over-engineered... keep it simple.
There. I might have just talked myself out of changing
or adding anything... ever.
